People today

People used to worry about survival, day to day life struggles. Too busy to be concerned about other peoples lives, politics, every thing else going on in the world.   Today, with so much free time they concern themselves with what everyone else is doing. Their minds are flooded with uninformed thoughts and supposed cares of the entire world…violence, climate change, economy, wokeness, etc.

People have become glorified narcissists

Image
In general, 21st century society has turned into the cultivation of ego and away from becoming moral human being in a crooked world. Think about it, count how many times a day do you say "I", "me", "mine", "my". Social media culture has turned people into glorified narcissists.

Things That Are Not in the US Constitution

Things That Are Not in the US Constitution A lot of people presume a lot of things about the Constitution. Some are true, some are not. This page will detail some of the things that people think are in the Constitution, but are not. Innocent until proven guilty The concept of the presumption of innocence is one of the most basic in our system of justice. However, in so many words, it is not codified in the text of the Constitution. This basic right comes to us, like many things, from English jurisprudence, and has been a part of that system for so long, that it is considered common law. The concept is embodied in several provisions of the Constitution, however, such as the right to remain silent and the right to a jury. The right to privacy The Constitution does not specifically mention a right to privacy. However, Supreme Court decisions over the years have established that the right to privacy is a basic human right, and as such is protected by virtu

“An American’s Creed.”

“I do not choose to be a common man. It is my right to be uncommon. I seek to develop whatever talents God gave me—not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any earthly master nor bend to any threat. It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say – ‘This, with God’s help, I have done.’ All this is what it means to be an American.” - Dean Alfange 1952

Memorial Day

Image
Memorial Day, as Decoration Day gradually came to be known, originally honored only those lost while fighting in the Civil War. But during World War I the United States found itself embroiled in another major conflict, and the holiday evolved to commemorate American military personnel who died in all wars, including World War II, The Vietnam War, The Korean War and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Although many people celebrate all veterans on both holidays, Memorial Day is distinct from Veterans Day in that it is specifically meant to honor those who died while serving, while Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans.

Think for Yourself

“If a person gave away your body to some passerby, you’d be furious. Yet you hand over your mind to  anyone who comes along, so they may abuse you, leaving it disturbed and troubled—have you no  shame in that?” —EPICTETUS, ENCHIRIDION, 28 Outsourcing your thoughts to other people, like the present day news media which generates  consent by providing its own opinions, reasons, and arguments instead of you yourself going and  finding the source in the wild and deducing from evidence you gathered yourself.

Literally, What Your Crutch Word Tells Me About You

Image
Literally is a crutch word people use (overuse) to add emphasis by placing the same intensifier in front of some figurative word or phrase which cannot be taken literally. They do this because they want to be taken seriously and as a filler for lack of evidence. Like stating that something is a “fact”. If you have facts all you must do is quote them or cite them. Anytime I hear or read someone saying “literally”, “it is a fact”, or “let me be perfectly clear” I instantly disregard what they are saying because it tells me are just giving you their own opinion and trying to make it sound believable, they are repeating what they heard somewhere else, or they are flat out lying.
